How Green Is Green?
Posted by Jonathan H. Adler  ·   3 February 2005  ·  Energy

Green Mountain Energy likes to bill itself as a "green" source of energy. Some environmentalists aren't so convinced, and have launched a boycott. Of course, some might argue that "green" energy isn't so green in the first place.

  1. I'm kind of conflicted because we just signed up with a 'green' producer for a pure hydro product. We did so because the price is locked in for a year and the state law capping the monoploy utility's 'standard offer' is about to expire with substantial price increases in the offing, and because it feels good to be using 'green' energy. Anyway, I clicked on the link advocating a boycott of Green Mountain Energy and was really saddened at the extent to which the left has lost its way. IMHO the reasons given for boycotting Green Mountain boil down to "because we hate Bush that's why". Losers.

  2. There are alternative Green Tag or Renewable Energy credit marketers out there. One of the alternatives is Krystal Planet. A company that sells green tags to residential and commercial entities in the U.S. and internationally, and is 100% wind powered.
