The Financial Times has an excellent column today by Patti Waldmeir on "Why we need a victory in the war against parking lots" that takes on the abuse of eminent domain by developers. She discusses the recent Michigan Supreme Court case and a pending case in the US Supreme Court. The column concludes "Nobody should be forced to sell their home simply because special interests have captured local governments. Developers should take their chances in the market like all the rest of us." If only she had said "Developers and green pressure groups....."
