Will Europe Go On With Emissions Cuts?
Posted by Carlo Stagnaro  ·  27 July 2004  ·

I have an article today in TechCentralStation concerning European attitudes towards climate control (Commission Emissions). While the first national plans for trading emissions for energy-intensive industrial plants have been approved by the European Commission, it becomes more and more clear that most European countries will not be able to afford emissions cuts. Economic growth in 2003 was only 0.4 percent in the Euro area. How much would that figure be reduced, if the cost of energy had to increase because of climate policies?

  1. Mr. Stagnaro,

I've had a site named The Commons since March/April. I've been duly registered with Site Meter, Technorati, The Truth Laid Bare, and so forth. I had a contributor send me a link to this spot, of which I was unawares. I'm disappointed that you guys put up your site without checking out my name. Very disappointed.

Please drop me a note or something.

  2. Dear Mr. Fordiani.
Actually, when I 'Googled' the name I found there are many sites that use the term 'The Commons' for their blog or site pages, some of them personal and some commercial.

Since the originators of this particular blog have long held a reputation for open and reasoned comment on important public policy issues that are very rarely adequately (and fairly) convered in the anglosphere media, it is also a good name for this site, too. And since it's actually called "The Commons Blog", in my view there is no harm so no foul.

BTW, I also enjoyed reading yours!
